The Tsi382™ is a small form-factor, high performance forward bridge that connects a single lane PCI Express (x1 PCIe) interface to the PCI bus standard.

The Tsi382’s PCIe Interface is compliant to the PCI Express Specification (Revision 1.1). The device’s 32 bit PCI Interface can operate up to 66 MHz in PCI mode. This interface offers designers extensive flexibility by supporting three types of addressing modes: transparent, opaque, and non-transparent.

Smallest Footprint x1 PCIe Bridge

The Tsi382 is available in a RoHS compliant 10 x 10mm, 0.8 mm ball pitch BGA package rated for industrial temperature operation (-40°C to 85°C). The 10x10mm package also provides sufficient arbitration and clock outputs to support four PCI devices making it the smallest footprint x1 PCIe bridge solution.  A 20x20mm LQFP package option is also available for cost-sensitive applications.

High Performance

The Tsi382 incorporates deep buffering and a queuing architecture to minimize latency and maximize throughput. The bridge incorporates innovative features such as short-term caching that can further increase system performance for many applications.

Transparent, Non-transparent, and Opaque Bridging

Transparent mode operation is available for efficient, flow-through configurations, while non-transparent bridging allows isolation between the Tsi382’s PCIe and PCI domains. Non-transparent bridging enables applications that use a processor on the secondary bus, such as intelligent adapter cards. Opaque mode provides semi-transparent operation for multi-processor configurations and enhanced private device support.
