The Tundra Tsi308™ is a HyperTransport™-to-PCI/X bridge designed for cost and power sensitive MIPS processor applications in communications, networking, and entry-level storage systems.

Each HyperTransport (HT) port operates at a frequency of up to 600-MHz DDR for both transmit and receive directions, and sustains a total aggregate bandwidth up to 2.4 Gbps per 8-bit bidirectional HT port. Each Tsi308 HT port can be 2, 4, or 8 bits wide in both transmit and receive directions.

For increased flexibility, the Tsi308 supports one 64-bit, PCI/X, or two 32-bit PCI/X configurable ports. A fairness algorithm allocates bandwidth among devices, thereby eliminating starvation of bridges at the end of the chain. Up to 31 devices can be daisy-chained to build higher capacity systems with multiple PCI/X buses and HT-based peripherals.

Business Benefits

The Tsi308 offers designers a number of key system benefits:

  • Low power – The Tsi308’s careful design makes it the lowest power dissipating HT to PCI/X bridge on the market.
  • Low system cost – A smaller footprint and built in PCI arbiter combine to make the Tsi308 a perfect choice for reducing system cost.
  • Scalability – Up to 31 devices can be daisy chained to give system designers maximum flexibility.
  • Performance – Deterministic low latency per tunnel meets the requirements of real-time applications. A dual PCI/X port also optimizes performance by distributing varying PCI/X devices across separate PCI/X buses.
